How Guitar pickup's work.

In this article we are going to talk about Guitar Pick ups and everything you need to know about it.

You might just think that it is simple. But not really, there is a science behind how can your electric guitar pick up the sounds and transmit it to the speakers.

It's a series of energy conversions happening so fast that is seems instantaneous to our brains. Mechanical energy in the form of string vibration gets converted into an electrical signal, sent along a cable get signal processed amplified and comes out in your amp or speakers in a form of mechanical energy again, this time in the form of sound waves.

So how does the process takes place ?

and of course the answer is MAGNETS

Picks ups are cooper wires that are wrap around the magnets. That's the easiest way to explain it.

There is two types of Magnets that they use in Guitars. There is Alnico which is an alloy and aluminum and nickel combined and the other one is Ceramic which is a little more brittle and harder.

You usually see ceramic pick ups which you usually see in P 90's with steal adjustable poles and with nickel magnet, each magnet is individual.

Bobbins on the other hand is the one that holds the magnets in place.

Guitar pick ups are often mistaken for a type of microphone and while they share some operational principles with microphones, they actually work and behave very differently.

To understand better about Guitar Pickups, have someone explain it to you.
