Let's talk about the most common concerns of every guitarist, Arthritis.


What is Arthritis ?

Arthritis is a disease that affects your joints (areas where your bones meet and move). Arthritis usually involves inflammation or degeneration (breakdown) of your joints. These changes can cause pain when you use the joint. Arthritis is most common in the following areas of the body. In musicians case it is mostly can affect the fingers especially the thumb.



How can you know if you have Arthritis ?
  • Pain

  • Inflammation

  • Dactylitis, which is a sausage-like swelling in the fingers.

  • Bluish appearance of the affected area

  • Difficulty of movement

These are the common sign that the patient would usually experience. But it is still best to consult your orthopedics doctor to best diagnose your symptoms.


Arthritis cause dull sensation and in your fingers, most likely you will experience this during an active day. Pain may come and go so it will be best to rest your hands for a while because the more pain you get the more cartilage wear off.
